Prepare a Clean Word File for Professional Editing

A simple, consistently formatted Word file makes it easier for editors to review text, track changes and return clear revisions.

Use standard paragraph styles, clear chapter headings and page breaks rather than repeated blank lines. Remove comments and unresolved tracked changes unless the editor needs to see them. Keep images or special layout instructions in a separate folder with clear filenames.

Save one master copy and send a dated working file to your editor. Include a contents page and note any sections that are incomplete. A clean document does not need elaborate design; book layout comes later, after editing and structural decisions are stable.
