Proofread Designed Pages Before Your Book Goes to Print

Review the final laid-out pages—not only the Word manuscript—to catch layout shifts, missing text and last-stage production errors.

After formatting, check the PDF or digital proof at normal reading size. Look for widows and orphans, uneven spacing, broken headings, missing page numbers and text that has shifted or disappeared. Verify that front matter and chapter starts follow the approved sequence.

Use a clear correction method and return one consolidated list to the designer. Avoid making broad content changes during the proof stage unless they are essential, because late revisions can move text and require another check. A careful final proof protects the quality of the reader’s first impression.
